Help Napa Valley Bitters Transform Cocktails

Angostura Bitters

Angostura Bitters

I love bitters.

Let me say that again… I love bitters.

Not sure what I’m talking about?

Here’s Wikipedia’s definition of what bitters are:

A bitters is an alcoholic beverage flavored with herbal essences and has a bitter or bittersweet flavor. Numerous brands of bitters were formerly marketed as patent medicines, but are now considered to be digestifs rather than medicines. They commonly have an alcoholic strength of 45% ABV and are used as digestifs and as flavoring in cocktails.

You see that bottle over on the right? That is a bottle of Angostura Aromatic Bitters. You’ve probably seen it at the grocery or liquor store. It’s that weird bottle with the over-sized label. It’s also the most popular and widely available brand of bitters. For a while… it was pretty much the ONLY commercial brand available. Luckily, bitters are having a bit of a renaissance. Many fantastic new (and old!) brands are showing up on store shelves. Brands such as Fee Brothers, The Bitter Truth, Bittermens, Dr. Adam Elmegirab’s, and Regan’s are slowly gaining (or regaining!) popularity. One new company that hopes to join their ranks is Napa Valley Bitters.

This new startup (run by Mr. Ian Winget) has created a Kickstarter for itself.

Here’s their pitch video:

There are still some early bird specials available that’ll get you bottles for 20 bucks a pop. Not a bad deal at all. Might seem a bit pricey if you’re new to bitters, but when using them in cocktails, you’re only using a few drops at a time. Bitters are potent. A few drops is all ya want.

Anyhoo… go help him out! Ian seems like a good dude and this world needs more bitters!

About Adam Willis

I'm just a guy who really likes California. I live in Arizona for now, but will be moving over there as soon as possible. Also. I love you. Smile!
