The moment you all have been waiting for is finally here! Number one! My favorite! The best (in my humble opinion) place to just hangout for a while at the Disneyland Resort:
1. White Water Snacks!
Nothing in Disneyland? Nothing in California Adventure?
Yep… my favorite place to hangout in all of the Disneyland Resort is a tucked away little quick service restaurant in the Grand Californian.
I know this might seem like a strange choice, but I stand by it.
Of course, this is not my favorite place in general… just my favorite place to relax for a while. If I really just wanna get off my feet and enjoy some good (not amazing… good) food for a while, White Water Snacks is where I tend to want to go.
First of all… I really love the Grand Californian. I am absolutely in love with the Arts and Crafts style of architecture, so I can’t help but be enchanted by being anywhere in the Grand Californian. That being said, the theming of White Water Snacks isn’t quite as detailed or fancy as that of the Storytellers Cafe, Napa Rose, or the Hearthstone Lounge, but it still gives me the warm fuzzies.
The food. It’s really good. Well… it’s good. Um… let’s just say it’s a great value. There’s nothing fancy being served, but it really hits the spot when you’ve got a hankering for a well made burger or nachos. Also… they have beer. So that’s nice.
The Atmosphere. The entrance to White Water Snacks is about 20 feet away from the Grand Californian pool. Because of this, when it’s pool season, it’s not uncommon to see a wet, fat tourist wearing nothing but a bathing suit mosey on in to grab a beer and a bite. I find this amusing. You might not. To each his own.
Besides that, it’s usually a pretty chill place. Very laid back. Sure, there are the occasional misbehaving children and crying babies, but that’s common in all of Disneyland. I mean… it’s Disneyland… world capital of misbehaving children and crying babies.
Also… there’s the fact that you’re basically in California Adventure without actually being in California Adventure. This isn’t a big deal if you’ve got an annual pass, but for those of us who don’t, it’s pretty cool. When you sit out in the outside seating area, you can look right into DCA. You can hear people screaming on Grizzly River Run and do a bit of people watching. It’s nice.
I love White Water Snacks.
